Volunteers needed to help with Fourth of July festivities

posted Jan 31, 2012, 6:15 PM by Cynthia Downing

Coordinating the Fourth of July festivities is a huge and stressful job for just a few people.  This year, we’re looking for volunteers to fill specific positions:

·           Snow cone machine operator to work from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  We’ll provide the ice, syrups, and supplies.  You make the snow cones and serve the kids!

·           Cake Walk Chair.  The cake walk will be held at 7:30 p.m. on the basketball court.  The Cake Walk Chair will coordinate the donation of cakes, pies, cookies, and desserts.  He/she will bring a CD with the music for the cake walk and make sure people know when the cake walk is getting ready to start.

·           Water, Soft Drinks, and Ice Chair.  The Park will provide a budget.  The Water, Soft Drinks, and Ice Chair will purchase bottled waters, soft drinks, and ice and put them in the tubs that will be provided.  Tubs should be filled by 4:00 p.m. and replenished periodically until dinner is over.

·           Clean-up crew.  The Clean-Up Crew will make sure trash is put in garbage cans and the Park is generally left clean.  The Crew is also responsible for stacking rented tables and chairs at curbside for pick-up the next day.

A planning and organizing committee has been formed and will meet on Monday, February 6, at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Cathy Davis at 1205 W. Tenaya (at the southwest corner of Thorne).  We need your help!!  If you’d like to join the committee or volunteer, please contact Cynthia Downing by Email to  Thank you in advance for helping keep this tradition alive!
