Park applies for grant from Fresno County; letters of support needed!

posted Jan 31, 2012, 5:18 PM by Cynthia Downing

Last fall, Fresno County received approximately $730,000 from the Estate of Ernest Lawrence.  The funds are to be used specifically for parks.  The County requested proposals for use of these funds.  The Board of Supervisors will review the proposals and make funding awards soon.  Tentatively, the Supervisors are scheduled to discuss projects for funding on March 6, 2012.

The Tenaya Estates Board submitted a proposal for $22,555 so we can replace the rubber surface of the playground.  The current surface has reached the end of its useful life.  It has unsafe holes and doesn’t meet the State’s child head injury standard.

Ours is just one of many proposals.  Letters of support to the Board of Supervisors would make our proposal stand out.  Please take a moment and write your letter today.  Letters should reference the following:

Applicant:  Fresno County Service
Area #2 and Tenaya Estates, Inc.

Proposed Project Name:  Replace the rubber surface of the children’s playground at Tenaya Park

Project Funding Request:  $22,555

Susan Anderson represents our District in the County.  Other Supervisors are:  Debbie Poochigian, Phil Larson, Judy Case, and Henry Perea.

You can address your letter to individual Supervisors or the Board as a whole.  Mail letters to:  2281 Tulare Street, Room 301, Hall
of Records, Fresno, CA  93721-2198.  Email Cynthia Downing if you’d like a sample letter.
